Mark Seiberling and Samantha Zimmer are representing six Lehigh Valley-area charter schools in their lawsuit against Whitehall-Coplay School District and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The suit is in response to the district recently ending school bus service for kids 12 and up in charter schools as a cost-saving measure. The parties are arguing the new policy violates the Equal Protection and Education Clauses of the Pennsylvania Constitution. The first hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 29 in Harrisburg. At that hearing, the plaintiffs will be asking for an emergency injunction to restart bus service until the case is resolved.
