Jennifer Zegel, a Partner in the Firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice, will join Judge Matthew Carrafiello of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas for a presentation during the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section Annual Retreat titled, “View from the Judge’s Chair – the Intersection of Non-Profit Law and Real Property. The Case of the Painted Bride with Judge Matthew Carrafiello.” The presentation focuses on how a mosaic façade caused a Philadelphia Orphans’ Court Judge to deny approval of an agreement of sale in order to prevent demolition of a non-profit’s building for condominium development and then, the Commonwealth Court’s reversal of the decision. The session will outline the details of the matter and long-term considerations that could impact non-profit organizations that own real estate. Additionally, the session will offer updates on current estates and trusts topics from a judicial perspective.
