Kleinbard litigators Steve Engelmyer and Paul Gagne recently presented at the American Camp Association’s 2017 Tri-State Camp Conference at the Atlantic City Convention Center on March 14, 2017. Engelmyer and Gagne’s session was entitled – “Understanding the Implications of Abuse Claims – Lessons Learned From the Sandusky Case.” Their session covered what to do to prevent sexual abuse by employees and volunteers and what to do to when a claim of abuse is made. They also discussed the importance of having appropriate insurance coverage, how to investigate claims of abuse and how to report and assert a claim for insurance coverage.

Engelmyer is Chair of Kleinbard’s Litigation Department. He has over 30 years of experience in all facets of commercial litigation with particular emphasis on insurance coverage, contract disputes, telecommunications, employment disputes, and environmental issues. He represents clients in a broad range of commercial disputes and acts as chief litigation counsel to numerous private and publicly-held companies.

Gagne is Of Counsel to the Firm and is a member of the Litigation Department. He practices in the areas of commercial, tort, insurance coverage, and intellectual property litigation in state and federal courts.  He has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, including business disputes, business torts, intellectual property disputes, contract disputes, employment disputes (including restrictive covenants), insurance coverage matters, and insurance bad faith litigation in the state and federal courts.

Kleinbard’s insurance litigation team is currently representing Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association Insurance Company (PMA) in a recently settled complex and protracted litigation involving claims by Penn State arising from the sexual abuse by its former Assistant Coach, Jerry Sandusky.
