Lorena E. Ahumada of Kleinbard LLC was appointed by Mayor Kenney to the Board of Directors of the Defender Association of Philadelphia.  The Defender Association is an independent, non-profit corporation, with over 200 full time Assistant Defenders who represent clients in adult and juvenile state courts, at civil and criminal mental health hearings, and as child advocates for dependent and neglected children.  The Board of Directors is composed of three groups of directors representing the city government, the organized bar and the community. The Board appoints the Chief Defender and the First Assistant and sets overall policy for the Defender Association.

Lorena is Of Counsel in the Litigation Department of Kleinbard LLC.  She concentrates her practice in the areas of employment litigation and counseling, complex commercial litigation, and insurance coverage law.  She also represents both private and public entities in white collar criminal and regulatory investigations.

Lorena currently serves as a regional President of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) for Region IV (PA/DE).  She is a past president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania (HBA) and the HBA Legal Education Fund (HBA LEF), a 501(c)(3) organization that funds scholarships for Latino law school students in the Delaware Valley.  She currently serves as a member of the HBA’s Advisory Board and Ex-Officio member of the HBA LEF.
