Francis G. Notarianni

Fran is an associate in the Firm’s Litigation Department. Fran is has experience handling litigation in the appellate, commercial, government and political, white-collar, and insurance contexts.

Fran specializes in appellate advocacy and has represented clients in state and federal appellate courts where his deep knowledge of the appellate rules and legal trends guide his strategic approach to appellate advocacy. Fran’s practice includes advising trial council on appellate strategy to the early stages of litigation to thoroughly develop and preserve issues on appeal. He also has experience handling appellate matters in a variety of contexts including medical malpractice, commercial, administrative, constitutional, governmental, insurance, criminal, and political cases. Fran has argued in the Pennsylvania’s Supreme, Commonwealth, and Superior Courts. Fran has also helped clients obtain a discretionary appeal—called allocatur—in Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court on a number of occasions. Fran also drafted over a dozen amicus curiae briefs and understands how to craft an effective amicus brief that will stand out to the court.

In addition to his appellate experience, Fran has significant commercial litigation experience in disputes involving breach of contract, lease agreements, and employment contracts. He has successfully litigated and negotiated settlements with an eye toward efficiency and minimizing costs.

Fran’s litigation experience also includes extensive work on white collar, government, and political matters in state and federal court. He has represented corporate and individual clients involved in civil and criminal governmental investigations. He also has experience representing and defending political entities, governmental entities and candidates in a variety of matters relating to governmental immunity, election law, administrative law, and constitutional law.

Fran also has experience defending corporations and government entities in personal injury cases including complex wrongful death cases. In these cases, Fran has broad experience that includes managing discovery, writing effective dispositive motions, and developing effective trial strategies.

Prior to joining the Firm, Fran served as a law clerk for Justice Kevin M. Dougherty on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for two years. In addition to his experience in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Fran has also served as a judicial intern for The Honorable James M. Munley in the U.S. District Court for The Middle District of Pennsylvania, and has experience working within the City of Philadelphia Law Department.

Fran is proud native of Scranton, Pennsylvania. He is also a former collegiate athlete. He played offensive line at Gettysburg College and he applies to his career the same relentless work ethic that he developed on the field.
