Matt Haverstick Quoted in Law360

Kleinbard government litigation partner, Matt Haverstick, was quoted in the Law360 article – Pa. Judge OKs Delaying Judicial Retirement Vote.  Haverstick along with Mark Seiberling and Josh Voss represent the Republican Senate leaders in the defense of a bipartisan resolution passed by the General Assembly to delay a public vote on the referendum, which would increase the mandatory retirement age for judges from 70 to 75.

Haverstick, Seiberling and Voss successfully defended the General Assembly’s constitutional authority to choose the time and manner in which a proposed constitutional amendment is presented to the electors, and defeated a last-minute attempt by three Democratic legislators to have the ballot question for Proposed Constitutional Amendment 1 amending the mandatory judicial retirement age appear on the April 26, 2016 primary election ballot.  The ballot question for Proposed Constitutional Amendment 1 will now appear on the November 8, 2016 general election ballot, as directed by both houses of the General Assembly in concurrent resolution HR 783.
