Big firm talent. Small firm creativity.

Sierra Applegate

Sierra is an associate in Kleinbard’s Business and Finance Department, and a member of the Firm’s Trusts and Estates Group. Her practice primarily focuses on estate planning and estate administration, including drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare powers of attorney documents at varying levels of complexity. Sierra also works on matters involving trust modifications and terminations, probate petitions, hearings, and inheritance tax returns. She also guides clients through various stages of the estate administration process.

Prior to joining Kleinbard, Sierra clerked in in the Orphans’ Court Division of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas for the Honorable Sheila Woods-Skipper, where she strengthened her knowledge of complex estate issues, processes, and civil procedures. Through this experience, Sierra developed a deep understanding of the significance of preserving and protecting the rights of her clients and their beneficiaries. She garnered experience resolving complex issues, including tangled title disputes, which she applies to her practice today. She has experience negotiating with mortgage companies and financial institutions to ensure that her client’s interests are rightfully transferred. Additionally, Sierra has experience representing tenants facing eviction in Municipal Court in Philadelphia County.

Sierra also maintains a strong connection to the community and has a passion for securing rights for all Philadelphians. She currently serves as a volunteer attorney and mentor with Philadelphia VIP, and organization that provides free legal services to low-income citizens. By counseling clients though the estate planning and probate process, Sierra has been able to remedy a range of issues and secure favorable outcomes for many residents.
